ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO (patch) kit exists for WORKING_SET_MANAGEMENT.EXE on OpenVMS
VAX V5.1 through V5.5-1. This kit addresses the following problems:
Problems addressed in VMS V5.1 - V5.3-2:
o Any OpenVMS VAX system containing a shadowed system disk will
hang when attempting to do a warm restart. This patch will
allow systems with disk shadowing to correctly perform a warm
restart operation.
This problem is fixed in OpenVMS VAX V5.4.
Problems addressed in VMS V5.4 - V5.5-1:
o INVEXCEPTN bugcheck at IPL 8. SWAPPER is the current process.
This problem is fixed in OpenVMS VAX V5.4-3.
o One sees a system-wide hang. Upon crash analysis, the free
page list is empty, but the modified page list is very long
and many processes are in an FPG state.
NOTE: This fix only partly addresses the problem of
system hangs. The hangs are reduced and
recoverable as opposed to requiring a system
reboot for recovery. Hangs have also been seen
in OpenVMS VAX V5.3.
This problem is fixed in OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2.
o When the number of pages in a process working set is greater
than or equal to 64K, the system may crash with an WSLPAGCNT
bugcheck. The problem occurs when a longword data item is
is manipulated by an instruction (SUBW) that is only
appropriate for a word data item.
This problem is fixed in OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2.
