IMPORTANT NOTICE

The online distribution of OpenVMS and related product patches is being migrated to the HP ITRC (Information Technology Resource Center) patch distribution site. The new ITRC patch server will allow OpenVMS customers to take advantage of many enhanced features for patch searching and distribution.

Beginning August 1, 2003, OpenVMS and related Layered Product, publicly available patches will be available from the HP ITRC web site at

http://itrc.hp.com/service/patch/mainPage.do

The same patches will still be available from the existing patch server in Colorado Springs (http://www.support.compaq.com/patches/) through the end of October 2003, to give customers sufficient time to update their bookmarks and make the transition to the HP ITRC web site.

ECO kits will also be available by raw FTP from (ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/).

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR BOOKMARKS AND REGISTER ON THE NEW SITE NOW

Note: if you're having trouble connecting to the ITRC site, please delete any cookies for "itrc.hp.com" from your browser and try again. Report any difficulties with or suggestions to MrVMS

    ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO (patch) kit exists for YFDRIVER.EXE on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2.
This kit addresses the following problems:

o An ASYNCWRTER bugcheck or timeout occurs on a VAX 3100-90 or
4000-100 system if DHW42/41 controllers are installed and one of
the controller ports is set to DMA. Strange behavior may also
occur if the terminal port is set to /MODEM.

NOTE: A DHW42/41 port can be set to DMA manually using the
DCL command 'SET TERMINAL/DMA' or by default if ASYNC
DECnet is enabled through NCP (Network Control Program)
and the command 'SET TERMINAL/PROTOCOL=DDCMP' is issued.

o If the system is running on a VAX 3100-90 or 4000-100 with a
Q-BUS installed and there is a CXA16 on the Q-BUS along with
         either a DHW41 or a DHW42, only 8 lines of the CXA16 will be
         configured.

      o VAX 3100-90 and 4000-100 CPUs with a DHW41/DHW42 controller
installed may crash with an INVEXCEPTN PGFIPLHI bugcheck when
queue corruption occurs due to incorrect servicing of
         DHW41/DHW42 interrupts.

      #1076 V1.3

    ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO (patch) kit exists for SYSLOA on VAX 6000/7000/10000 systems
running OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 through V6.0. This kit addresses the
    following problems:

For OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 through V6.0:

o Normal system operation may be severely disrupted on VAX
7000/10000 systems because the cache error correction
routine does not properly correct cache single bit errors.

    For OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 ONLY:

o VAX 7000/10000 systems may crash due to rare occurrences of ECC
errors in the CPU module back-up cache. These errors will not
corrupt data and will be shown in the OpenVMS error log
    'SYS$ERRORLOG:ERRLOG.SYS'.

o On VAX 6000 systems, the CONNECT command for the VME device
driver might cause the system to crash. SYSGEN requires the
INIT flag to be set in the ADP by SYSLOA before it can connect
the VME device driver. When this does not happen, the system
    will crash.

o VAX 6000/7000 systems do not support IRQ6 interrupts.

electronically using the appropriate Advanced Electronic Services
(AES) Service Tool. If you are not familiar with how to request kits
electronically, open the DIA, WIS or DSNLINK database and review
    the article entitled:

must be rebooted. If the system is a member of a VAXcluster, the
    entire cluster should be rebooted.

      INTERNAL ECO KIT INFORMATION:

There is an ECO kit available through the AES Tools and the CSCPAT
      Utility.

For more information on these tools, please refer to the following
articles in the "CSCPAT" and "..AES-USA" databases entitled:

      ECO KIT POLICY STATEMENT:

This kit should ONLY be used as part of a solution to a specific
problem and not as a troubleshooting method, e.g., for 'quick fix
      tries' at a customer site.

      IMAGE/PATCH DESCRIPTION:

NOTE: To obtain the checksum information (in hexadecimal) for an
      image, use the undocumented/unsupported command:

      $ CHECKSUM /IMAGE <image-name>

To obtain the checksum information (in decimal) for a
file that is not a native VMS image, use the commands:

      $ CHECKSUM <file-name>
      $ SHOW SYMBOL CHECKSUM$CHECKSUM
