IMPORTANT NOTICE

The online distribution of OpenVMS and related product patches is being migrated to the HP ITRC (Information Technology Resource Center) patch distribution site. The new ITRC patch server will allow OpenVMS customers to take advantage of many enhanced features for patch searching and distribution.

Beginning August 1, 2003, OpenVMS and related Layered Product, publicly available patches will be available from the HP ITRC web site at

The same patches will still be available from the existing patch server in Colorado Springs (http://www.support.compaq.com/patches/) through the end of October 2003, to give customers sufficient time to update their bookmarks and make the transition to the HP ITRC web site.

NOTE:  This ECO kit installs a new LMF$LURT.DAT into the
       SYS$COMMON:[SYSEXE] directory.  The new LURT.DAT
       does not support hardware types 1 through 358, but
       starts with 359.  A satellite node in the cluster
       that boots from a root of the system on which this
       kit is installed may not boot, but may fail with
       the following error:

            %LICENSE-F-BADLURT
            - RMS-E-RNF, record not found

       This issue may be resolved by placing a copy of the
       previous LMF$LURT.DAT file in the SYS$SPECIFIC:[SYSEXE]
       directory on the satellite node.

       Please see the list at the end of this document for
       hardware types that are supported by this kit.




ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for LMF$LURT.DAT on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 through
V5.5-2H4.  This kit addresses the following problems:

Problems Addressed in the VAXLMF01_U2055 Kit:

  o  The VAX 7000/10000 Model 800 CPUs have different LURT unit
     requirements than the Model 600 CPUs.  With the COMPAT_MODE set to
     V55, the Model 800 CPU is presented to OpenVMS VAX 5.5-2 as a Model
     600 CPU.  Therefore, the LURT UNIT requirements must be modified to
     operate the Model 800 CPUs.  This kit provides the correct LURT
     units to allow recognition of the Model 800 as a valid system.

     It should be noted that this fix has the following restrictions:

       -  Support for the Model 700 on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 is not
          provided.

       -  More than 4 Model 600 processors on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 is not
          supported.

       -  The maximum memory supported on Model 800 with OpenVMS VAX
          V5.5-2 is restricted to 512MB.

       -  Model 600 systems are *not* supported on V5.5-2 with the LURT
          this kit applied.
